Hannibal:
The ending in the film was better than the book. The Verger storyline was done without much fantasy in the movie. I missed Verger's sister, she was quite important to the story. I liked the scenes in Florence, they were just beautiful! And, although it goes against the book, I liked the phone conversation between her and him. "Is this Clarice? Well, hello Clarice." Overall, I liked it, but don't compare it with Silence of the Lambs. They can't be compared. They're two tatally different movies. Silence was cramped, dark and all about the dynamic between Starling and Lecter. It was a frightening good movie. Hannibal was bright, colourful and although the book was about the progressing relationship between Lecter and Starling, the movie was more of a hollywood sequel. And they made room for a fourth book. And the ending proved Lecter has balls of steel!
Hollow man:
It was a fun movie to watch, but it quickly resulted in chliches and cheap hollywood trickery. Although I am a big Verhoeven fan (he's Dutch) I thought Hollow Man was quite disappointing. It had fun parts (wher he scared the children) and it had really baaaaad scenes (the I'm-not-dead-and-I'll-catch-you-in-the-elevator scene). It wasn't worth the $8.
What women want:
If they ended the movie just half an hour earlier, it would've been a terrific movie. It had humour, originality and it made for a good story too. But then they did what they always do: they thought of a bit of drama. I mean the suicidal girl? Please. The whole ending was nothing we haven't seen before too. I liked the chemistry between Hunt and Gibson. It almost looked real.

[The Quarmian philosopher Ventre] said, "Possibly the gods exist, and possibly they do not. So why not believe in them in any case? If it's all true you'll go to a lovely place when you die, and if it isn't then you've lost nothing, right?" When he died he woke up in a circle of gods holding nasty-looking sticks and one of them said, "We're going to show you what we think of Mr Clever Dick in these parts..."

Crouching tiger is a movie that you really must see on the big screen. TV won't do it justice
The movie is poetry in motion.

Nope, never heard of that director. Croughing tiger (...) got great reviews here. But it didn't make it in the theatre in my hometown. That's because we have a new cinema, one of those MEGA things and to compete with that, all the smaller theatres are only showing the BIG movies anymore. Sigh. I missed Dogma and Drwoning Mona because of that. But I got the first one tape. Wait a while for the second.
